My job is to ensure that all students have a safe and positive learning environment in which they can reach their full potential. Providing career as a school counselor guidance allows you to equip students with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future. As a school counselor, I have the opportunity to help elementary school students determine what career paths are available to them and how they can best achieve their goals.

To do this, I must have an in-depth understanding of job duties and licensure requirements for various professions. Additionally, I often advise students on the educational requirements for pursuing certain jobs or roles such as obtaining a master’s degree in order to practice psychology or counseling.

Here’s a 3 item numeric list outlining some of my key responsibilities related to career guidance:

I’m responsible for a variety of administrative duties, such as managing student records and conducting assessments. School counselors are expected to have an understanding of the job description they’re hired to do, which includes staying up-to-date with any changes in state or federal regulations related to their salary for a school counselor.

It’s also important that I interact with school administrators and other staff members when making decisions about students’ educational plans. Additionally, I’m tasked with supervising student behavior while monitoring attendance and academic progress.

It’s my responsibility to make sure all paperwork is filed appropriately and that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time. This includes writing reports about the progress of each student I work with, creating referrals for students who need additional support services, and responding promptly to any inquiries from parents or teachers.

Furthermore, I must ensure that all confidential information about students remains secure at all times.


As a school counselor, I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
