Yesterday, on November 19, 2015, the Supreme Court of Washington State ruled they will not reconsider their decision that charter schools are not common schools and should therefore will not receive funding using taxpayer dollars.
For information on the original ruling see What the Washington State Supreme Court Decision on Charter Schools Achieved.
The only change made by the Supreme Court is the elimination of footnote 10 in the original decision. See page 11 of the original document for the footnote.
The decision will be mandated soon although the State and Intervenors have asked for a stay of mandate until June 2016. The assumption is the stay would be used to retain funding for the charter schools that opened prematurely and for charter proponents to have an opportunity to wage a new campaign for charter schools in the state.
Stay tuned for additional developments as they arise.
