If no agreement is reached and the strike continues Friday, instead of walking the picket lines, Seattle Education Association (SEA) teachers and staff will be dedicating their time to community service in honor of 9/11.
SEA teachers and staff will be holding a food drive on Friday, September 11 from 9:30-3:30 at the following locations
Safeway: 7300 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle 98115
QFC: 11100 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle 98125
Fred Meyer: 13000 Lake City Way NE, Seattle 98125
Please come support our teachers. The food collected during this drive will be donated to the local food banks that serve families in our community.
Roxhill Community Service
Roxhill Elementary teachers and staff will be doing a clean up of Roxhill Park. If you want to support them in those efforts, please join them.
Chief Sealth and Denny will be working in the Longfellow Creek P.-Patch area (next to Sealth on SW Thistle St.)and along the legacy trail… Pulling blackberries and picking up trash from 8:30 to 11:30.
Ballard High School teachers and educators are doing a day of service on September 11.
Per a teacher at Ballard High School:
We are doing a number of things today including volunteering for the Ballard food bank,volunteering for Phinney Ridge Community Center, volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club programs, collecting trash up-and-down 15th Ave.NW and also collecting materials, donations, food, diapers, clothing and more for the nonprofit New Beginnings which helps victims of sexual violence and helps to prevent sexual violence.
Emerson Elementary School (9709 60th avenue South). Staff will be holding a BBQ on the Hutchinson Playground at 1 p.m. If anyone would like to donate something it would be much appreciated as we want it to be a community event
