You are invited to an outstanding presentation: “Common Core State Standards, what are they and why should I care?”

Achievement tests may well be valuable indicators of general school achievement under conditions of normal teaching aimed at general competence. But when test scores become the goal of the teaching process, they both lose their value as indicators of educational status and distort the educational process in undesirable ways.

Donald Campbell, Campbell’s Law, 1975

I have seen JR Wilson give this presentation at a Democratic legislative district meeting and it was the most informative in terms of understanding the history of the Common Core Standards and where we are now in Washington State.

This one hour presentation is highly recommended. If you can’t make it, send a friend to take notes.

To follow is a description of the presentation.

The Common Core State Standards and related issues are non-partisan issues directly or indirectly affecting every student, parent, and citizen in the State of Washington. The issues are not a matter of Republican vs Democrat, right vs left, conservative vs liberal, red vs. blue: The issues are a matter of what is right vs wrong.
