Swing Fling 2012 is hosted by the Rainier Beach Music Department. The event will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, April 13 and will be held in the RBHS gymnasium. This is a fundraiser for the Rainier Beach Music Department. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
$7/single and $12/couple
This is a wonderful event to bring your entire family to! We will have food and beverages, live jazz music, and swing dance instructors to give lessons before the dance starts! Our own Rainier Beach Little Big Band will be performing at the event. For more information, contact Brian Dyson.
Swing dance lessons are available at 6:00 PM.
- Beach collaborated with the Center School’s graphic design program in developing some amazing posters that have been distributed throughout the community and our own school. You may have seen them in Rainier Valley, Columbia City, various schools around town, or even the Stanford Center. I have included the designs in this e-mail in case you are interested!
- The Jazz Combo is working hard to ensure a quality performance for Friday. They are rehearsing after school every day this week, culminating in a three hour dress rehearsal Thursday evening…Needless to say, we are excited to share our music with you!
- Marcus Neal’s parents have kindly donated their services in providing a photo booth at the event. Should be lots of fun!
- Lastly (but certainly not least), we have received some amazing donations from different organizations for our raffle. Mark Haley kindly donated a Viking Nation hoodie to be included in a “Beach Gear” package.
BOTH the 5th Avenue Theatre and the Seattle Theatre Group (Paramount, Moore, and Neptune Theaters) donated tickets to upcoming shows (Rent and Cats, respectively). STG’s donation is worth $250 alone (best seats in the house, in my opinion).
Can’t wait to see who goes home with each package! I hope to see you all there. It’s going to be an amazing experience, I believe.
